Gentlemen please don't be fooled by the Poodles you see who sport frou-frou hair cuts. [And no, you're not seeing things - you'll also find an Afghan Hound, a Labradoodle Rescue, a Goldendoodle Rescue and other Poodle mixes on these pages!

Poodles were the original retrievers and the 'stylish' haircuts you see in the conformation show ring are grounded in history. To increase mobility in the water, hair was cut away on parts and to protect the lungs and joints, ankle bracelets, hip rosettes and a ‘jacket’ were left long. BUT Poodles are 'convertibles' with a variety of different looks being just a clipping or scissoring away. The only limit to the variation of looks possible with a Standard, Miniature or Toy Poodle is your imagination because under those, admittedly silly looking, show coats are dogs with beautifully proportioned athletic bodies, ready and willing to be your loyal companion for the duration of their lives. ~ Marie
