Part of a group of Afghan Hounds who were recently relinquished to Placer County Animal Control, California.

Poodles > Spice is aprox. 6 to 7 years old.

Spice has a problem with her spleen and she is heart worm positive.

Poodles > In addition to having a problem with her spleen and being heart worm postive...

Pictured to the right are Spice's horribly neglected teeth and gums.

Many of her teeth need to be removed but she is not healthy enough to survive being "put under" do to the same.

Poodles > This picture is what a CLEAN bowl of water looks like after Spice takes a drink - blood red.

Poodles > January 14, 2007. Please note how long Spice's toenails were when she was turned over to Animal Control.

Poodles > The picture to the right is of a mammory tumour that obviously should have been removed by Jenny's "owner".

Poodles > A closer look at the tumor that Jenny had when she was turned over to Placer County Animal Control.

Poodles > Jenny after surgery - drain and stitches. Afghan Hound Rescue of Southern Calfornia is currently fostering Jenny and taking care of her medical expenses.

Poodles > Where to begin with Cinder.

Turned in and pregnant.

Positive for Giardia and heartworm.

Her ears were infected and had to be flushed.

From the vet report: "Unkempt haircoat; very smelly; urnine stained etc.

Tarter/severe/teeth falling out; extreme gingival recession."

Poodles > This is Zeus.

Zeus is unfortunately no longer with us. He passed away after being neutered by a sight hound experienced veterinarian.

He was turned in with a dead tooth - that had he survived would have had to be removed.

Poodles > Some where along the line before Zeus was turned in his tail was broken - hence the weird angle at the tip of his tail as shown in the picture.

Poodles > Zeus's toenails are hollow. Possibly due to malnutrition or because his toe nails went so long without being clipped.

Poodles > Note the matting of Zeus' coat in this picture AND the hernia that was never fixed on his abdomen.

Poodles > Zeus' feet are typical of this group - all were severely matted when turned in.
